HIP OPENERS FOR ANXIETY & TRAUMA
Hip openers are practiced with caution in Yoga for Anxiety & Trauma. It’s common to hold a lot of tension and built up emotions in the hips. It’s helpful to release tension in tight hips however, hip opening can be unsettling and increase energy for some people. Practice any that feel comfortable for you. Pigeon and its gentler variation, figure 4 are preferred because they add an element of grounding.

If the hip of the front leg is off the ground place a blanket or block under for support.

Practice with the top foot on a wall or chair so hands and shoulders can be relaxed.
