PRENATAL YOGA THERAPY

Yoga practices for birth preparation. I offer one-on-one and workshops on breath, visualization and ritual to support mama as she brings baby into the world. I also offer mama and partner sessions providing guidance for the birth team so they can support mama through the birth. Typically these sessions will begin in the third trimester and leading up to baby’s birth day. Sessions are very individual and provide unique guidance based on what mama believes she will need most. This process is for anyone woman who wants to make their baby’s birth an empowered experience and specialize in working with women who have a history of trauma, anxiety and infertility.

POSTPARTUM CARE

The forth trimester and in particular the first 6 weeks postpartum can be the most beautiful and enriching periods of a woman's life. For some women, this time can also seem overwhelming, exhausting and confusing.  Regardless of where you are on this spectrum, research has shown that early postpartum care is crucial for Mama and baby to recover successfully from the delivery and for both to thrive long-term. Canada is well ahead of many of other countries but still has a long-way to go to fully meet the needs of families postpartum. Beyond medical care, what new Mama's need most is to be heard, nourished and unconditionally supported. In our culture women are often a great distance from their families or have parenting values that don't align with their support network. As an empowerment guide I support my client’s rising up as a mother. In her book The Forth Trimester, postpartum expert Kimberly Ann Johnson  lists the five universal postpartum needs:

  • an extended rest period

  • nourishing food

  • loving touch

  • the presence of wise women and spiritual companionship, and

  • contact with nature

I specialize in supporting women who have gone through fertility struggles, had a difficult or traumatic birth, have a history of anxiety, trauma or depression, OR are at risk for postpartum depression.

As your Postpartum Doula I will give you guidance to discover what you need; support you with education, encouragement; be a helping hand so your family and home run smoothly (from dishes, to laundry, to playing with your other babes); listen to you without judgement; nourish your body, mind and spirit.  I always start with a FREE in-person consultation to make sure you're getting exactly what you need.
