i am grateful - for spring

i am grateful

for the birds' sweet melodies

that play my heartstrings.

and - if i look closely -

the first signs of spring grow up before my eyes

stretching towards the sky

from the compost of

the fall's fallen leaves.

as the world changes

from a palette of brown to green

my heart pitter patters in anticipation

of

colour!
