I first met Leigh Shand 2 years ago while I was going through a major life transitions and looking for help with a health concerns that came up a during that period. Leigh’s support was invaluable, not only for my physical health but also in the things I learned about myself to support my long-term wellness.
When you think about Life Transitions likely what comes to mind are big changes like childbirth, menopause, divorce, retirement, grief. In reality changes are happening all around us, everyday…. the transition of day to night, the seasons, the moon phases and the overall cycle of life - to name a few. For the most part these changes are not as stressful as major life transitions but all change comes with some stress and disruption. Anyone dealing with chronic anxiety, likely knows that change (even small change) can be a major trigger.
Becoming aware of life's rhythms can help you mitigate the distress of seasonal change, it can help you find balance, stay grounded and even prevent dis-ease.
In this episode of Life Transitions I had the opportunity to talk with Leigh, an Ayurvedic Lifestyle Coach, about how Ayurveda can support you through seasonal changes.
Ayurveda is the sister science of Yoga and is a wellness model that is based on becoming aware of and managing / balancing your unique cycles and rhythms.
"Ayurveda is about the play of life and getting to know ourselves. Its is self discovery."
Leigh gives listeners a beautiful introduction to Ayurveda and discusses practical tools to help people stay grounded during the fall and manage seasonal transitions.
